Soil moisture testers are an often overlooked but invaluable tool to grow better house plants especially succulents.  Overwatering or using pots that do not drain well will probably result in eventual death to your succulents.  Most succulents do much better if the soil is completely dry before you water again.  A simple method to check soil moisture is to put your finger about an inch down into the soil to physically feel the wetness or dryness.  However, that is not always practical or reliable.  The best way to ensure you water your succulents correctly is to use a soil moisture meter.  The one we recommend is the Bodear 3-in-1 Soil Tester Kit.  Read more here…

Diatomaceous earth is beneficial for succulents in several ways.  It is a natural non-toxic mineral that kills and controls insects.  DE is also helpful if the succulent is not in well-drained soil.  Excess water is not good for succulents and diatomaceous earth will help dry it out.  Food-grade diatomaceous earth can be spread on the top or mixed right in with your succulent soil.  We recommend the organic food-grade Harris Diatomaceous Earth brand.  Read more here…
